Tutor's Experience

About CB

I am CB Park, an experienced math tutor with a passion for helping high school students excel in their mathematical journey. With over 10 years of tutoring experience, I specialize in teaching:

In addition to my tutoring expertise, I have a strong background in laser engineering. As a laser engineer/scientist, I have designed and conducted numerical modeling for various laser systems which uses mathematical knowlege and implementation of math skill.

I hold a Ph.D. in Laser and Optics from the University of Central Florida, where I conducted extensive research on nonlinear optics. With a solid educational foundation in physics and a master's degree in the same field, I possess a deep understanding of the fundamental principles underlying mathematical and physical concepts.

As a dedicated math tutor and laser engineer, I strive to inspire my students to overcome challenges and develop a strong foundation in mathematics. My goal is to make math accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for every student I work with. I am also proficient in Python and Matlab programming languages, which allows me to leverage computational tools for numerical analysis and modeling.

If you're seeking a knowledgeable math tutor who can provide personalized guidance and support, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I am committed to helping students achieve academic success and fostering a deep appreciation for the beauty of mathematics.

About Kim

I have been teaching as a math tutor for the past 15 years, mainly focusing on Cherry Creek School Districts and Douglas County School Districts.

I have taught various subjects from 7th grade to 12th grade, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Probability & Statistics.

The aspect that I prioritize and pay close attention to is, of course, understanding the fundamental concepts of mathematics while tailoring to the curriculum to each student’s individual characteristics. Since every student’s learning process is unique, finding the most suitable approach for each individual is not only effective but also requires a great deal of effort.

Furthermore, I always provide text-based answers to any questions students may have about their school assignments, not only during tutoring sessions but also whenever they ask questions outside of said sessions, aiming to establish a connection with the student.

My motto is “you can dislike math, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get an A.” Leveraging my years of experience and familiarity with the curriculum, I will assist students who are struggling with mathematics. Thank you!

As a graduating student of the Class of 2023, I wholeheartedly endorse Mrs. Park for her exceptional ability to work with students and instill confidence in them. I entered her class as a sophomore at Cherry Creek High School, struggling with mathematics and feeling scared and frustrated. However, once I made the decision to put in the work and follow her advice, my grades improved significantly, and I no longer view math as a challenge. Mrs. Park has demonstrated immense patience, courtesy, and perseverance with every student she mentors. She goes beyond simply assigning homework and solving problems; she ensures that her students, including myself, truly understand the concepts and reasoning behind them.

This approach is especially valuable in mathematics, and Mrs. Park consistently exhibits professionalism and patience when working with her students.I genuinely enjoyed working with Miss Park, and given the opportunity, I would gladly choose to work with her again.

Surprisingly, I learned more about mathematics in her class than in any other math class I have attended. Therefore, I highly recommend her as an exceptional educator in the field of mathematics.

    As 5 star review! ★★★★★
This lovely person is the best math tutor you could ask for! She really takes time to explain each problem in depth to make sure you truly understand and concept. She helps with understanding what you're currently learning and helps with homework, her teaching area is very clean and personal as well. She's not only a great teacher but a great person too :)

she's very understanding and empathetic and who, I personally, am very connected with and see her as a second grandmother. She has an accent but it's still extremely easy to understand her & the concepts she teaches. Her schedules are very flexible, very well managed, and the pricing is very reasonable. Overall, a wonderful individual and teacher. I hope if you ever find yourself in need of a tutor, this wonderful woman is just the person you need. ❤️

I couldn’t help but write a long review because there are so many positive things to say about Ms. Kim. Ms. Kim has seemingly unlimited patience in everything whether it is handling a more difficult personality, finding a way to get her students to understand a concept they struggle with, or solving a math problem.

Another thing that makes Ms. Kim is special in how she consistently goes above and beyond for her students. She has been known to do research on a school teacher’s teaching styles outside of class, search for other textbooks with better curriculum for said subject, and contact a student’s school teacher to create more support for students. Many times, she arranged sessions with me outside of her business hours to ensure I got enough practice before a test. Ms. Kim teaches in an organized fashion (she uses a lot of color coding and carefully labels each step) that makes it easy to follow her. Another thing to note is she has experience in several departments of math, so she was able to help me with algebra, geometry, pre calc, etc. Additionally, she is also very good at inserting her notes into school notes, which is useful when students want to refer to what they learned in tutoring while they are in school.

A positive environment increases success in academics so it is important to note that I always felt comfortable with Ms.s Kim. She always has delicious snacks and mints, and her house offers a very calm and easy-to-focus-in atmosphere. Since lessons generally happen at her house, you also occasionally get the treat of seeing Kirby, her lovely dog, when you are at your session. More importantly, since I was open with her, we were able to build a system of trust with each other. I never felt guilty or ashamed to tell her about when I didn’t do well in school, which led to us being able to work on my struggles together. However, that doesn't mean she doesn’t set high goals for her students because she certainly does. She believes in us and helps us reach for the stars.

Additionally, Ms. Kim works to discover the unique learning styles of all of her students, and she learns how to teach in that learning style. For me, she developed a system where we shared a notebook page and she wrote notes in a numerical fashion on one side while I wrote the same notes in a language based fashion on the other side- because that is what worked best for my brain. None of my school teachers ever took the time to help me develop a learning plan that works for me the way Ms. Kim did, and I think that really speaks to the benefit of having one-on-one time with a tutor who is committed to her students.

The most important thing about Ms. Kim is that she has a loving and caring soul, and she is so loving to her students. She goes above and beyond for her students, and she cares about our success and how we are doing. She is an adult who students can trust will always be there for them in their academics and their lives. It is great to have a tutor but it is also great to study with a person who you will find a friend in and who makes learning math enjoyable and interesting rather than stressful!
